After straining and a series of very exacting quality tests, this mass is cast in plaster or plastic moulds. After some 2 hours, the cast piece can be removed from the mould and further processed by hand. The pieces are pre-dried and are then forwarded to the drying unit. This desiccation process compacts and hardens the ceramic body so strongly that the sanitary unit is already toughenough to handle as it goes to the next stage, the glazing process.
